Is it possible to replace hardware like the SSD or ram in the new MBA? Thinking if the storage might become a problem in a year or so..

RAM, no. SSD, not at the moment but most likely yes within the next year.

Other World Computing has sold SSD upgrades for the revised MacBook Airs since 2010. They don't currently have upgrades for the 2013 MacBook Airs but I would expect to see some hit their shop sometime this winter.

OWC SSD upgrades for 2012 MacBook Airs (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Aura_Pro_Air_2012)

OWC SSD upgrades for 2011 MacBook Airs (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Aura_Pro_Air_2011)

OWC SSD upgrades for 2010 MacBook Airs (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Aura_Pro_Air_2010)

The actual installation is very easy and straight forward but the part costs are still relatively high compared to traditional hard drives.

Yes, I have no clue why PDXPean said no. The RAM is not replaceable in any description of the term, but the SSD is. At the moment it's near impossible to find OEM versions of the 2013 SSD though, and no third party manufacturer makes one YET, but it is POSSIBLE.
