Is there an app which can airplay all formats to ATV not only mp4/mov?

For example AVplayer HD airplays only iOS formats.

I just tested. The vlc app airplays ( ONLY the sound from avi/mkv's. No image....it has to be mp4/mov/m4v!

ps- you can airplay (with mirror on) but the quality is low compared to native airplay.

it plays full screen on my HD TV, so not just standard mirroring.

Ok check if your mirror option is on.... turn it of and see if it continues airplaying mkv/avi etc files. Just airplay it to ATv with mirror off!

It is my understanding that airvideo (as i think it is called) requires hardware decoding and hardware decoding only works with iOS native video codecs. All other video codecs must be software decoded an hence must be used with air mirroring instead. It is possible that container formats such as MKV can be played with airvideo if they contain H.264 encoded material.
