Ah, you know when I hear a guy talking about how he cares more about his boo than his baby mama, it makes me tear up. So sweet....

Are there romantic rap songs? I'm gonna say no on that.

As I said in a previous thread, this new commercial ********e 50cent type rap is bogus, old rap from 98 and before is the real rap, rap with emotion you go ahead and listen to renee and tell me you dont think its a bit romantic, but its a completley different matter if you dont like rap. I really hate this knew rap about hoes and bling and all that ********e, its "wack G"

An amazing song about his mom, Tupac's song Dear Mama. It's a great song, AND it has great lyrics. I would definately recommend a listen.

I finally understand for a woman
it ain't easy--trying ta raise a man
ya always was commited, a poor single mother on welfare,
tell me how ya did it
there's no way I can pay ya back
but tha plan is ta show ya that I understand.
you are appreciated......

Hmmmm... a lot of my favorites are crossover in some way or another.

Patmian, I know you're not a 50 fan, but I think 21 Questions is a good one from him.

Into You by Fabolous.

I Need a Girl by Diddy

If I Could Go by Angie Martinez

The Seed 2.0 by the Roots

Based on a True Story by Ms. Triniti (heh...another iTunes free song I turned out to like a lot)

03 Bonnie & Clyde by Jay-Z

Just a Friend ...either Biz Markie's or Mario's.

In Love Wit Chu by Brat

Dear Mama's a different kind of love song, but it's definitely tight.

most of slug's songs are about love in one way or another though, so it's kinda hard to pick one.

Immortal Technique - Dance With The Devil.

Not the conventional love song, but the tune is ripped straight from an old song by that very name - Love Song.

Dance With The Devil is the exact opposite of a love song, lol.

Anyway, I'm disgusted that the "love song" ever made its way into rap.

If anyone share my same views, listen to this (http://therza.home.bresnan.net/09%20So%20Many%20Rappers%20In%20Love.m4a)

The Seed 2.0 by the Roots

The Seed, seriously? I mean, good song, but how is it romantic? "I only wanna fertilize another behind my lover's back" doesn't exactly sound like love song lyrics.

I still hate jay-z for that. actually, I never liked him. Reminds me of puffy.

My favorite love song? "I'd ratha be yo N-I-G-G-A" by 2pac ahaha
its not a love song, just an explanation of how he would rather just be seeing her than be her boyfriend.
I can stand any rapper that has come out since eminem except the game.
The only rappers i actually have respect for now are the original wu tang clan, NWA (including dre), Westside Connection.. well... any true west coast rapper. NaS, and of course, 2pac Makaveli the Don.. the most gangster rapper ever.

I think the most romantic Rap song is undoubtedly

also, "the Indian song" by Slick Rick

Also, A bitch is a bitch by NWA and

I totally forgot about that till you mentioned it. I think I still have it on one of my MiniDiscs - reminds me I gotta get a minidisc portable player to extract tracks and DJ spins off of soon!

Oh yeah there was a track by The Roots long ago .... Honey? it was supposed to be a two part video; the second part never came out did it? I cannot find it anywhere.

Never heard that Easy-E song I recall though I'm not too positive.

Find that song and listen to it, it is soo romantic, Eazy-E just has a way with words to bring out the love in his lyrics..all the ladies swoon to his poetic versus, and silky rhymes..he really had a lot of respect for women, and relationships in general..a really classy rapper....

rap != music

rap = noise

Hip-hop / rap / whatever you want to call it, is nothing but materialistic bull$h!t. Every song is about either popping a cap in someone's ass, getting drunk / dancing at the club, or bragging about money/cars/luxury goods. Materialistic bull$h!t. Every song sounds the same. It's not even music - are there any musical instruments used? No, it's all computers and mixers. Is anyone singing? No, the lyrics are spoken, not sung. Heck, they don't even write the lyrics themselves!! They hire people to write them. There's zero talent involved, it's just garbage.

Don't get me wrong, there are good hip-hop songs/musicians out there (Deltron 3030, for example), but they represent a tiny fraction of 1% of what's out there, and are never ever played on MTV or on the radio. ever.

Pure ignorance.
There's plenty of amazing underground/indie hip-hop out there, I could list dozens of artists for you. I know more good hip-hop arists than bad ones. I hate when people judge hip-hop by the ******** on the radio, its like judging rock by the ****** emo bands out there.
FYI- 2 of the artists I'm listing play shows with a live band, Gym Class Heroes and Atmosphere. And the other group Grouch & Eligh both know how to play music and use a mix of instruments and samples to create their songs.

As for the love songs-

Cupid's Chokehold - Gym Class Heroes
She's got a smile that would make the most senile
Annoying old man bite his tongue
I'm not done
She's got eyes comparable to sunrise
And it doesn't stop there
Man I swear
She's got porcelain skin of course she's a ten
And now she's even got her own song
But movin' on
She's got the cutest laugh I ever heard
And we can be on the phone for three hours
Not sayin' one word
And I would still cherish every moment
And when I start to build my future she's the main component
Call it dumb call it luck call it love or whatever you call it but
Everywhere I go I keep her picture in my wallet like here

Highwire Love - The Grouch & Eligh
Treatin' the lady in your life right's not uncool
Think back to all the good thing she's done for you
Why you wanna lock her in the house?
And when she tell the truth you wanna pop her in the mouth?
That ain't right, it's suicidal
All she ever did was make you look good when you riding
Plus you have someone to confide in
She's your other wing, how you glidin?
Without that, you out back forgettin about the facts of life
Testosteroned out, actin like
You wanna fight
Really you want love
Silly if you stop if she can fit you like a glove

(Chorus)
I can't do it by myself with this god, without Earth, without (? ?) mic stop
Every good man needs a woman and a woman needs a man
We need balance in life and hip-hop

Yesterday - Atmosphere
I thought I saw you yesterday
But I didn't stop cause you was walking the opposite way
I guess I could have shouted out your name
But even if it was you I don't what I would say
We can sit and reminisce about the old school
Maybe share a cigarette because we both fools
Chop it up and compare perspectives
Life< Love< Stress< and Set backs
Yes'
You could tell me how hard you had it
And you could show me all the scares to back it
And we can analyze each complaint
Break it down and explain these mistakes I make
I like to tangle up the strings of the puppetry
But you knew me back when i was a younger me
You've seen Sean in all types of life
And I've been meaning to ask you if I'm doing alright

(Chorus)
Yesterday, was that you
Looked just like you
Strange things my imagination might do
Take a breath reflect on what we've been through
Or am I just going crazy cause I miss you

Nothing says love like 50 cent's Candyshop (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxf0TOk0ho0).

Yeah...
Uh huh
So seductive

[Chorus: 50 Cent & Olivia]
[50 Cent]
I'll take you to the candy shop
I'll let you lick the lollipop
Go 'head girl, don't you stop
Keep going 'til you hit the spot (woah)
[Olivia]
I'll take you to the candy shop
Boy one taste of what I got
I'll have you spending all you got
Keep going 'til you hit the spot (woah)

[Verse 1: 50 Cent]
You can have it your way, how do you want it
You gon' back that thing up or should i push up on it
Temperature rising, okay lets go to the next level
Dance floor jam packed, hot as a teakettle
I'll break it down for you now, baby it's simple
If you be a nympho, I'll be a nympho
In the hotel or in the back of the rental
On the beach or in the park, it's whatever you into
Got the magic stick, I'm the love doctor
Have your friends teasing you 'bout how sprung I gotcha
Wanna show me how you work it baby, no problem
Get on top then get to bouncing round like a low rider
I'm a seasons vet when it come to this ****
After you work up a sweat you can play with the stick
I'm trying to explain baby the best way I can
I melt in your mouth girl, not in your hands (ha ha)

[Chorus]

[Bridge: 50 Cent & Olivia]
Girl what we do (what we do)
And where we do (and where we do)
The things we do (things we do)
Are just between me and you (oh yeah)

[Verse 2: 50 Cent]
Give it to me baby, nice and slow
Climb on top, ride like you in the rodeo
You ain't never heard a sound like this before
Cause I ain't never put it down like this before
Soon as I come through the door she get to pulling on my zipper
It's like it's a race who can get undressed quicker
Isn't it ironic how erotic it is to watch em in thongs
Had me thinking 'bout that ass after I'm gone
I touch the right spot at the right time
Lights on or lights off, she like it from behind
So seductive, you should see the way she wind
Her hips in slow-mo on the floor when we grind
As Long as she ain't stopping, homie I ain't stopping
Dripping wet with sweat man its on and popping
All my champagne campaign, bottle after bottle its on
And we gon' sip 'til every bubble in every bottle is gone

[Chorus 2x]

:D

Major thread resurrection if you go all the way back to the OP. I would have to say some of my favorite "rap love songs" are:

Automobile - NWA (classic gangsta anthem)
Givin' Up the Nappy Dugout - Ice Cube
Let's Get Buck Naked and %#$@ - Ice T
Freaks of the Industry - Digital Underground
Go See the Doctor - Kool Mo Dee
Roxanne Roxanne - UTFO
Pony - Ginuwine (more hip hop than rap)
Push It or Let's Talk About Sex - Salt N Pepa
O.P.P - Naughty by Nature
Wild Thing - Tone Loc
Get Ur Freak On - Missy Elliot
Freaks Come Out at Night - Whodini

Man this brings back memories. Such good tunes. :D

I don't understand how it's a contradiction.. there are love songs in EVERY genre of music(yes, even death metal). everyone loves someone no matter what kind of music you listen to. See my post above for some hip-hop love songs.

how has no one mentioned the classic?

Me and My Bitch - Notorious B.I.G.

I know this is an old-ass thread, but songs about seeing a big ass when you go to the club do not count as love songs. period.

in fact, I would like to abolish any rap song about going to the club unless violence ensues inside.

Someone posted Nelly in this thread - wtf? If that is one of the 'best' they've heard, it must be the only one too.

Either way

Brown Skin Lady - Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli)

She's Got That Vibe - R Kelly and Public Announcement (for fun)

Yoo Hoo - Dangermouse & Jemini
