Remote Desktop connection?

I know this has been asked before but how do I use remote desktop connection on my iBook with tiger to connect to my windows pc and windows file on my computer. I want to document share even when I am not my network on a school connection.
 
The pc is a home pc. I know how to network and log on the pc when I am in the same wlan network but let say I am at school and need to access a file or what not. I just want a solid documentation on getting remote desktop connection to work. Thank you.
