xy14 gave the best introductory thread starter. (Give some details when starting threads).

Steve Jobs was on SNL today. He intoduced three iPods.

The first held 50,000 songs, could play video, etc. By thanksgiving though, it will be obsolete. (Micro)
The second held 2 million songs, and was about an inch tall. By christmas though, it'll be obsolete. (picaño or something)
The third was the iPod Invisa. It held 8 million songs and was invisible.

The skit was done as Steve introduced the iPods on Weekend Update.

If anyone didn't see this, i'll answer any questions/comments.

iPod Micro was probably first knuckle length.
iPod Picano was only smaller than a fingernail (not an inch).
Steve said iPod Invisa wasn't actually invisible. :)

Steve played by Fred Armisen.

Fred Armisen did a good job of capturing some of Steve's traits, particularly speech patterns, Good Parody!:D :D

It was hilarious; Fred Armisen did a great Steve Jobs. The thing felt in fact more like a Stevenote than a Weekend Update.

I daresay the impersonation ranks up with the one Horatio Sanz did of Jimmy Buffett last season.

I missed SNL but am sure they can shrink them further. I thought it never should have gotten smaller than the iPod mini ... that remains my fave (too bad I did not buy back then). The practice of accelerated product obsolesence is something that should be revisited by Apple.

Don't take it to seriously.:p

I was completely turned off by the usage of the iPod Micro, I know it is comedy and I shouldn't nitpick, but micro is bigger than nano. They should have gone for pico, femto or atto to be scientifically correct.

Still, it was mildly amusing. Nothing more. iPod flea was far more entertaining.

Am I the only one who didn't find that funny at all? The pong line got a smerk out of me, but the rest wasn't very funny, and it wasn't a great impression either. SNL hasn't been funny in more then 10 years.

edit:: Ok, I'm not alone.

I too didn't find it funny. I understood what what funny about it, but it...it didn't work for me. I agree, the impersonation of steve was not done well.

Yea, snl has been on a constant slow downward decent for quite a few years. there were a few good bumps, but in all reality its nothing more than a downward decent. Oh well...

I thought it was pretty good. I haven't watched that show in a long time and just happened to catch it. The only thing that bugs me is that it just keeps furthering the idea that apple only makes iPods, lol. Oh well  I liked how he put his hands together when he left, lol :)

What are you talkikng about? That was SO Steve Jobs. 8 million songs......8 million songs..... (we're really thrilled about this). I'll meet you halfway and say that was the first funny thing I've seen on SNL in 10 years (because I agree, SNL pretty much bites anymore).

This is the kind of parody that SNL did in the 70's and it's rather quaint to know that thirty years on they are still trying that same ol' formula. Beyond the 5 minute rehearsal on his mannerisms, even less time spent on make-up and the predictable pedestrian motion the gag was waddling meant there was nothing of any depth here.

Sorry.

People who didnt think it was funny are WAY too grumpy.

I love Apple, as we all do, and it was pretty funny. Sure, if some of the older guys were around from SNL it could have been better. The point is.. the damn thing was funny! I dont watch SNL anymore.. and "Weekend Update" sucks now with those kids playing what they do... and its nothing close to the Norm "Weekend Update" that it used to be, but still, at least they parodied "Jobs" which is an indication. It gets his name out there which is good.
