Dual display for 15" imac

hi everybody i've had an imac 15" g4 800mhz running os X.1 soon to be X.2 and i want to set up a second monitor so i can pan across both screens not a mirror. i'm legally blind so i need all the help i can get. i've heard rumors that you can do this in darwin but i've no idea how; any advice would be greatly apprecited. you can email me at monkeymakingcoffee@hotmail.com
