I have a Sony DCH-HC42 camcorder that I want to be able to connect to my Mac Mini (Mid 2011) via Thunderbolt. My camcorder uses mini Firewire connection. I have been trying to find the right cable to go from mini Firewire to Thunderbolt. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I saw a few types of cables and adapters on the Apple website, but not sure if I would be buying the right thing.

You buy the Firewire <> Thunderbolt adapter from Apple and get a 4-pin to 9-pin Firewire cable, but know, that you might need a Firewire 800 HDD to put between adapter and camera, as many 4-pin Firewire devices get not recognised by newer Macs when connected directly to the Mac, though the Apple Firewire <> Thunderbolt adapter might take care of that.
