i was just using the imac as normal and then suddenly the screen went all distorted, green lines everywhere on the whole screen-its only a week old!! (the rev before the isight imacs)
i ran the hardware test and i recvieve error code 2ATI / 1 / 4 : 113 - xxxxx - 117
i believe this may be an issue with video ram??
anyone heard of this happening? is there anything i can do or is this gonna be a send it to apple job...

help!

also, i installed a 1Gb ram stick into the machine myself when i got it.. Could it maybe be related to a memory bay fault or not?

If it is video RAM, there's nothing you can do. Call your dealer and pack it up.

Obviously, remove the 1 Gb stick you installed before sending it back. Best start the machine up without the 1 Gb to verify the problem is still present.

You may also want to connect the iMac to the Mini via Firewire and boot the iMac into Target Disk Mode, then see if you can delete your personal documents and mail and stuff. Chances are, you're going to ask for a replacement machine, and you don't want some berk buying a Apple Refurb machine two months from now with your private doings on it.

great, so much for user installable parts! :(

apple are doing a good job at getting sloppier with their product quality nowadays.. Even the personnel side suck..
I've rang apple support in the past years and they've been excellent, but last week i just rang to ask for the screwdriver that was meant to come with the machine and i've never spoken to such a retarded woman in my whole life. i literally told her i didnt want to speak to her and just hung up.

You might want to check Apple's support sight and search for this under their discussion page. If it is the same thing that happened to my Rev A iMac G5, then you are more than likely experienceing the beginning stage of video card failure. This happened to me three different times with my iMac. Apple will have to replace the entire logic board to correct the problem.

After the third time, Apple replaced my computer with a new Rev. C iMac. So, the pain was worth it for me, as I got a much better computer for the price I originally paid. It was a pain, though, to get to this point.

Yup, arrange for an exchange as it's so new.
