This has been done a number of times.

It's funny you should say "songs on your iPod" because my iPod has had three less songs than my library for a few months now, and I still haven't figured out why! GRR! (No album art, no podcasts, no vids, It's all AAC, protected AAC or MPEG Audio Files)
