For those individuals, we've posted this news story, which will be updated with the link to the presentation once it becomes available from Apple. No other news stories or announcements will be displayed alongside this story.

Users waiting for the video to be posted are welcome to gather in the thread associated with this news story, and we ask that those who follow the events refrain from making any posts in the thread about Tuesday's announcements.

Video Available: Video Stream (http://www.apple.com/apple-events/september-2013/) - No spoilers on the page at the time of this posting.

Well no, based on past event apple announce it like 2-3 hours before the event.
But knowing apple would introduce 2 iphone, i'm guessing they will come out with a bang.

I wonder if Apple is simplifying their product line with the iPhone 5C... Right now the carriers sell three iPhone generations: the 4, 4S, and 5. Obviously the new flagship will be the 5S, but I'm thinking the 5C will replace all previous generations as the new low-end option, leaving only two generations to be sold. If the 5C really comes in at $400 (contract-free), then it would be at the "free with contract" price point, so why keep anything less expensive in the lineup?

Then they would only manufacture 2 generations of phones, both standardized on the new taller aspect ratio, Lightning connector, and LTE. I would expect they'll only offer the 5C in one storage capacity. That would reduce the total number of SKUs that they have to manage, which would make it easier to manage all the new SKUs with the various new color options.

I'm thinking that managing essentially two different models (5S and 5C), even in numerous colors, would be easier to manage, since the internals for a given model are the same, and it's just the housings that you have to make differently (even then, it's the same part, just different color). Managing three different generations means there are hundreds of internal parts you have to manage separately, all the different chips and circuits and switches and cables that are different between generations.

It's hard to say where it starts and ends - the whole thing is on the clock. We're a start up with a very casual work environment. I haven't tried, but I suspect you could throw porn up on any of our big screens and so long as none of our clients are present, nobody would care.

Yea, and the 'innovation' he was talking about involved sticking fairly standard pc components into a black tube that kinda looks like a trash can.

Wow, maybe their next innovation will be sticking standard pc components into something shaped like a starfish! Then, maybe something shaped like a human head! At this rate, the 'innovations' at Apple may know no bounds!!!

Fairly standard PC components? I think you need a reality check. The new Mac Pro is a BEAST. And so what if the design is a cylinder. It's radical and its less than half the size of the old Mac Pro which gives it more portability. Apple hasn't had ugly hardware since the original iMac and as long as Jony Ive is around, it will never have ugly hardware.

The problem with waiting until after the Keynote is posted is sometimes ordering has already happened and if you want to get in the queue, you need to know what to order!

I think the iPad 4 for was available for order right after (maybe a few hours) the keynote. Can't remember for the iPhone 5 (did not get). I think I got up in the middle of the night for the iPhone 4s ordering.

Some of us have come to a thread very much like this one for a decade to while away the time until we can experience the events as close to first-hand as possible, having a little fun whilst we do.

You may not understand our wish to block out the media's interpretations and stilted, filtered, live-blogging (and not encourage people at the events to do so), just as we don't understand your impatience and lack of appreciation for fidelity. But if you could please respect it.

Ultimately, we don't care what you think about us. Almost every time it is someone with a similar attitude that attempts to spoil it for the rest of us. If you're not interested, feel free to start a thread about that; it's irrelevant here.

One of the better things about being in Hong Kong is that it can be incredibly easy to avoid Apple related news -- especially in the hours after an event -- since the Keynotes are held at 1 or 2am.

I am able to wake up in the morning and odds are the video should be posted and ready to view (at least that was the case for WWDC). Thankfully, I am still on summer holiday so I don't have to work :D

That may very well be true. Just from what I noticed from the last few Apple Events, is that the video had been posted shortly after I arrived at work and I watched it there in the morning. I am pretty sure that was the case with WWDC. I seem to remember watching it on the MTR then finishing it when I got to my office.

Does anyone get the banner art? The colored dots. What does it all mean?!?!?!

I don't know, they did the colourful tiles for wwdc and we really didn't get exactly that. I'm assuming it's like the colour palettes for the 5C. We will soon find out though!! :P

also a reminder that social networking sites (twitter, fb, etc) are notorious for leaking information as the keynote takes place; close those tabs, disconnect your fb/twitter accounts on your phones, and stay on this forum if you don't wanna be spoiled.

there was person earlier in this thread or in another (I can't remember) who supposedly emailed the Media Division at Apple and asked if there would be a live stream, a rep from apple from this division answered that there wouldn't be...I don't know how credible this piece of info is, but I thought I would just put it out there...

Based on previous experience, Apple is full of surprises, very secretive until the last minute unless there's a leak of information.

don't trust any outside 3rd party services for "live" coverage. Apple has a policy where they are the only ones authorized for streaming the event live. Stuff like this is usually tape-delayed and not really "live"

I'm pasting in the "rules" from the past spoiler-free threads (yes, this isn't 'Nam, there are rules). If you can't follow them, please go elsewhere. The point of this thread is to be informed of the live stream as soon as possible without risking spoilers from around the Internet. Got it?

3) the spoiler-free thread is a place for Apple fans to distract themselves, to take attention away from the live blogs and rumors before, during and after the keynote until the official stream is available online. That's the point. Talk about books, movies, music, your dog, whatever. But nothing Apple or Apple related. Nothing.

With all due respect, the rules have been crowd sourced over the past seven years, and... accurately reflect the spirit of all spoiler free threads since 2006. Specifically, No Speculation! Look at the WWDC 2012 thread for a great example of what the poster called "mindless speculation" that caused everyone to jump on him. The rules are simple, nothing Apple - because at first glance speculation looks like a rumor or spoiler, and it causes us to flinch. So just don't.

Rules
- Do not mention any current rumors/new rumors
- Do not mention Apple's stock price
- Do assume everyone in this thread has heard nothing about (the) Event
- Use common sense when posting
- Do not say what was not in the Keynote (ex. "They didn't update the AppleTVs!!")
- Be Patient!

Purpose of This Thread
The purpose is that people can bookmark this thread, and check in periodically to see if a link to the Keynote is posted (instead of being spoiled by seeing pictures on the MacRumors' homepage ). It's like we've all seen trailers for a movie (like the part leaks), but we want to watch the movie (the Keynote) without knowing the ending.

Also if someone does post spoilers please report them via the button located on the left of each post. Please do not quote the offending post.

The last couple of keynotes I avoided searching for news until after I watched the keynote. It makes for a much better experience. It's like watching a movie without reading the spoilers. Not sure I will be able to hang on long enough for Apple to post up the video for the event so will probably watch it on Engadget's Live Blog (they post up a word for word blog with all the pics so its pretty much like watching the video!!) and then just watch the actual video once it is on Apple's site.

IMO Engadget are pretty good - I always follow all their Live Blogs for all things Apple! They post up loads of pics and loads of notes - its almost like watching the real video stream as most times, the notes are word for word as to what the speaker is talking about.

You also don't have to keep refreshing their page as the blog gets updated in real time so you can just keep the browser page open and sit back and watch away.............!!

It's pretty pointless to be spoiler free at this point (at least for 5S and 5C anticipators). Almost everything has already been spoiled by the front page 'rumors' already. This is unlike when I was anticipating the late-2012 iMac which rumors about it were extremely scarce.

During the last live stream event (WWDC I think), I had to go out for a short while, and was able to pause the video stream, and re-start on return.

So, IF there is a live stream, it may be possible for you to click on it and watch it from the beginning, time-delayed.

Maybe.

But if there's no live stream, then we're all waiting for it to be posted on Apple's web-site, or iTunes.

Could only be rumours, but found this on IB Times:

"Given the incredible hype surrounding Tuesday's iPhone event, which begins at 1 p.m. EST (10 a.m. in Cupertino), and most people are understandably looking for an online live stream to watch the Apple event unfold in real-time. Luckily for those interested, we have a few ways to live stream Apple's iPhone event. If Apple decides to host an embeddable live stream option, we will host the live stream directly on this page; however, should an embeddable live stream option never become available, users still have three main ways to live stream the Apple iPhone 5S and 5C event.

For computer users, Apple is planning to broadcast the iPhone 5S and 5C event on its Safari Web browser, which requires a Mac running OS X 10.6 or later. For mobile users, Apple will also live stream the iPhone event via Safari on iOS devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and iPod Touch, on any device running iOS 4.2 or later. Apple has also decided to restore its “Apple Events” app on Apple TV, and any owners of a second- or third-generation Apple TV will be able to watch the iPhone event there starting at 10 a.m. PST."

It's not a bloke in a costume, it's a symbol. Something elemental. You can't kill a symbol.

They can keep the lead vest though... no way I'm paying extra to fly back. What the heck do I need it for, anyway?

Instead of making a Superman vs batman movie, I would've liked to see them get together. Like the avengers.

Okay. That is a funny "evolution" then. Maybe it also depends on "issues" during the keynote. Last time one of the guys had problems with his "small cars". Maybe they are evaluating wether they should cut/edit the videostream when "things are going wrong". Otherwise I dont get the slow pace.

Maybe someone who has been attending a keynote could comment on this: Is the videostream an unedited version of the keynote?

knowing how long it is, or even watching the progress bar while watching is a spoiler. if you know how long, you know how likely the "one more thing" is as the end approaches. Sometimes you think you're about to get one, then bam, Randy Newman singing you've got a friend in me!

They have to edit in all of the videos so it doesn't just show it on the screen, add in all of the picture and picture between the speaker and the keynote I would think. Plus maybe enhance video and audio? That would be my guess.
