Maybe not as cool as the mini cooper viral from a while back, but at least this is for real. (Or is it?)

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be real.

What's incredible is how many have caught up with Honda and ASIMO in a relatively short space of time. Honda started developing ASIMO back in '86 I think, and you'd have guessed that with that kind of head start they'd have a robot that was far more advanced in every area, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Sony's QRIO is more autonomous, NEC's PaPeRo has better voice recognition and robots like these seem to have better dexterity in the limbs and hands department.

Impressive stuff though and thanks for the link. :)

Technology changes so fast that even with hondas headstart it would not make that big of a difference.

Just trying to add a little intrigue to the thread. :o

Thanks for the link.

It's quite amazing how far we have come in robotics nowdays maybe a little scary as well. However I like that kind of science!

Fair dinkum... ;) for an unbelievable robot though... have you read this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=64336) caused quite a stir at the time. :p :p :p

So I understand, he was last seen dancing in a Citroen ad. heheh. :p

wasn't ASIMO autonomous? This thing has a bunch of wires hanging off of it that could be controlling it.

Still cool, though.

Yeah, that's the mini cooper viral I referred to. Brilliant hoax. Thanks for reposting the link.

I believe he used to have to be linked up to a control box, although he wasn't radio controlled, he did require a certain degree of programming, that could well have changed though.

HUBO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HUBO) is along similar lines, although with more dexterity. It's incredible to think that they only started developing HUBO in 2000. as Solafaa says, such is the technical progress that even a 14 year head start can be caught up in only 5 years. Amazing.

Yeah, that's the mini cooper viral I referred to.

whoopsie, I totally missed that reference in your first post. :o

Thanks for reposting the link.

You're welcome. :)

Now... when can I buy a QRIO and a PaPeRo???? :D
