I can't stand itunes 11. It is a miserable failure.

I like iOS 7, however. I plan on using icloud as my backup, without syncing to itunes.

Is this a viable option?

Borrow someone's computer that has iTunes 11? Then you can sync your iOS devices with apps like iTools.

The point is, I won't use itunes 11.

Can I use ios 7 and simply back up to icloud?

Yep.

As with the betas, what I did:

1. Backup device to iCloud.
2. Restore iOS device using iTunes (older version should work)
3. Before activating, disconnect from computer.
4. Setup iOS device with Wifi
5. Restore from iCloud.
