Best way to import TV video to Mac?? Eye TV or....

Ciao
I need to make recordings of broadcast TV. I will take 45 minute programs and edit them down (in QTP 7??) to 10 min or so capsules.

I am on a PowerMac 2x2.0, 2GB ram. I see two options: Eye TV or a HDD Recorder ---> burn a DVD ---> import program from DVD.

No one around me can answer if option 2 (HDD for my TV) is possible. Can someone here?

Where I live, the Eye TV solution is a bit cheaper, but the HDD recorder is immensely more practical because I can use it normally too.

Please advise and tell me what I need addtionally, if anything in option 2.
