Apple are not allowing access to Touch ID to developers.

there are heart rate apps that use the camera and they work well. I've tested vs my heart rate monitor
azumio makes one

Yes. This is to ensure your fingerprint data is always locked down on the phone and isn't stolen by shady apps.

Missed opportunity if you ask me.

Touch ID is a seriously pointless feature. lol

plus, even if they did allow third party apps access to TouchID, its too early for anyone to develop something that complex, the iPhone 5S just came out less than a week ago...and its just a fingerprint scanner, I don't think it has the ability to detect heart rate data.

"LOL"ing about a feature you clearly have no understanding of how it works or what APIs are available to a developer? Mmkay.
