can't sync my iphone

hi all,

i have an iphone 4 (no siri) and have updated to the new ios and the new itunes.

ever since this has happened my iphone can no longer sync to my computer. when i try it sits on step 6 of 6 (waiting for items to copy ) for hours and hours. or it immediately stops at step 6 and goes to 'cancelling sync'.

any thoughts?
