Set a timer and lock phone - you get a mini timer appear on the lockscreen.

If your phone is set to 12 hour clock however... it just appears as 00:00, whereas 24 hour clock shows the timer countdown

I just had something weird happen to me that I cannot at all explain. Now iOS7 on my iPad has been pretty alright. The only weird thing I've seen it do is get stuck in landscape orientation, and take forever to get it to switch back to portrait. Kind of annoying, but it's only happened once or twice now so it's not that big of a deal.

On my iPhone 4? It's been nothing but trouble. It'll randomly delete caller information when I go to look at it, sometimes gets rid of the notes I've been keeping in the Notes app without warning, and has even deleted voicemails while I'm listening to them. That's bad enough, but not even a few minutes ago, I just had my phone do something I just can't explain...

I get a phonecall. It's coming from a friend of mine I'm helping out with a project. I answer it, and it's some woman I don't recognize on the other end. She gets kinda rude with me, says I called her, then says "whatever, some idiot's playing phone tag with me". Normally, I'd write that off as a prank, but while I'm talking to her, my phone decides of its own accord to conference call my house number, and my mom and dad's cell number while I'm talking to her. I hear my phone ringing, and almost right before this random woman hangs up, my mom answers, which leads to even more confusion.

Screwed up? Yeah, kinda. The only thing I touched during the entire ordeal was the "slide to answer" bar along the bottom of my screen. And it's kinda hard to accidentally start a conference call with myself and my parents while I have it in my hand, pressed up against my ear. Either my phone's been hacked, or iOS 7 has some weird, weird bugs.

I don't know if this is widespread but when using Bluetooth and then unlocking the phone.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/15/gabatu3y.jpg

I also get this on occasion (not always). Call failed and it's not showing me signal strength so I know when I can call back.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/15/hebaguhy.jpg

I still also have the issue with a black wallpaper on the lock screen. The passcode doesn't have circles around the numbers and it doesn't show how many digits you've typed. It sounds dumb but it's very difficult to unlock the phone. I'll post a screen shot later.

It happens with all apps. I can always reproduce it by:
1. Opening an app.
2. Double-click home button
3. Close the current app open.

It won't happen if you switch back to the home screen or another app before you close it though. :/

Update: Btw, I've already tried a backup and restore, and also a "reset all settings". Not to keen on the erase all contents and settings though.

Update 2: I just did a clean restore and the bug is still there. What should I do now?

Nobody seems to have gotten the bug I got on my phone.
I've made it happen twice but I haven't repeated it to make sure how to get the bug. But with Control center on during the lock screen I seem to get a bug at a point last left off in a song or if I'm listening to a ripped audio book. If I'm in the middle of the track with the player on and I shut the screen off and then turn the screen back on when I unlock my music app goes back to a previous "resume" point.

So, say my resume point was 1:03 in the track and I listen to 2:30. When I unlock it'll jump right back to 1:03. I notice that the scrub bar and counter on the lock screen app stops moving. It is pretty irritating when listening to an audio book because I could be 20 minutes further down and I started back to where it was when I started.

Once it starts happening it happens every time until I turn off Control Center, kill the music app and shut the phone down. Only after doing that does the problem go away. Like I said I only did this twice though and haven't mucked with it anymore.

Yeah, I wonder what they are up to. It doesn't make sense. I know people hear all the time "If Steve Jobs was there...", but really, if he was, there wouldn't be near this many bugs.

And, I want to jailbreak my phone, but I'm almost scared to do that until 7.2.

Yeah, I wonder what they are up to. It doesn't make sense. I know people hear all the time "If Steve Jobs was there...", but really, if he was, there wouldn't be near this many bugs.

iOS 7 is a pretty major update. iOS 2 was, as well, and Steve was very much there at the announcement of the 2.1 update, quote, "fixes lots of bugs". Nobody's perfect. No software this complex, no matter how well-examined, will ever be completely bug-free, and no company, no matter how big, can change that fact. All they can do is keep trying to fix what they find, and if they find one that causes a major enough issue (such as security), they have to go out of their way to push out a release to fix just that one while they're still working on all the others. As a software engineer myself, I definitely prefer to fix lots of things before I push out a release, for the sake of not having to jump back in time. Despite this, I am still asked to put out little fires along the main branch before I finish the major list of fixes that I really want to finish.

I don't envy Apple in their task of having to push out fixes for security issues and things while there are still things like BSODs and major UI hangups going on. Must be driving them crazy.

That's completely understandable, and I don't envy them either, it's just a lot of these bugs have been here since the beginning, and I imagine they have tons of people working on this iOS. It just doesn't seem Apple to actually release something so unpolished several times in a row. I know they have released a few things that have been somewhat unpolished, but I don't remember anything this extensive. And the fact that the Mac OS was as well....I'm definitely not saying their job isn't hard or anything, but I'd rather have waited another month or two for Mavericks and iOS 7. Now, however, it's frustrating for the consumer, and I can imagine them as well. It's a no one win situation, unfortunately. But, I still like Apple and will stick with them through this. I have hope that next year won't be bad since, I imagine, they will just build on to iOS 7.

----------

Another bug I've run across is that my music randomly stops in the middle of a song, but it keeps going as if it's playing. I discover new songs it does this with everyday. Fortunately, it seems to be consistent. What I mean is that if it happened to one song, then it happens to that song every time. Kind of weird.

----------

Maybe you swipe down a little bit at the same time? It's a possibility, but I'm not saying it's not a bug. Try to be super touchy on swiping left and right and see what happens. Maybe the sensitivity is just too high. I'm only saying this because I haven't had that problem yet.

iPad Mini Retina - Stutter and Lag, worse than the iPad Air

/WdCPGdqYzC8

Unfortunately, the iPad Mini Retina is stuttering and lagging more than the iPad Air and still has the animation delays that's noticeable across all iOS 7 devices. Its hard to capture the choppiness on film, test it out in person and the easiest stuttering to reconstruct is turning landscape & portrait mode in the AppStore app. Don't forget to always test out multitasking in and out of the Settings and AppStore apps to view the stuttering. I also crashed the calender app by opening it, but didn't catch it on film.

It is fault of used animation design so in my view it isnt bug, Apple just used this type of animation to make user expierence on older devices not so struggling. Maybe on iOS 7.1 we will be able to turn off animations, would be fine for latest iDevices

It's really hard to film stuttering of an OS, would be nice to capture it perfectly.

When you launch a 1st or 3rd party app, it should not stutter at all and the same applies to multitasking in & out. The best method I've tried to demonstrate in the video posted above was rotating the Appstore to landscape and portrait mode. On any of my iOS 6 devices, the rotation animations are perfectly smooth in the AppStore. It's not a bug for sure, but more of performance issues in how the codes are not cleanly compiled in iOS 7. Especially somewhere in the multitask areas, 75% of the bugs we find are related in there .

Just check it out when you guys have a chance to see it in person and you'll see what I mean. Everything runs choppy on the iPad Mini Retina for some reason, it makes the IP5s looks so smooth LOL.

I've tried crashing Safari, but it seem to handle apple.com in different 4 tabs ok. Don't know how calendar crashed as soon as I opened it, maybe it was loading the events that were preloaded in the demo unit and in the video it loaded fine, since it was the second attempt.

I wish that iOS 7.1 beta period won't take 3 months like iOS 6.1 did. Because already passed a lot of time and taking 3 months more would be insane for such big software company. Because seems that were 7.0.x released for critical issues like iMessage, lockscreen bypass and etc. and big bugfix update should be on 7.1

It's gonna be a very long time until Apple fixes all these bugs, most of them have been around since iOS 7 Beta 1 and still they are not fixed. Throwing "it's a beta" card didn't do kaka for me, the previous iOS Betas were never like this and iOS 7 Beta was truly an Alpha build, now we are almost entering currently the beta stages.

Just like their video said "takes time", this applies to a complete overhaul of an OS and fixing all the bugs. No way you can do this in less than 10 months and it does take years.

Your "iPad Air Stutter & Lag" video isn't only exclusive to iPad Air nor is it an indicator of inferior performance on older iPads.

My iPad 4 has it's "moments" like this and for me iOS 7 is still being polished for iPad, I don't believe Apple will leave it like this.

The five finger pinch gesture animation still looks unfinished regardless of the iPad model iOS 7 is running on.

Yeh, changed title. I had iPad mini ( sold before iPad mini retina announcement) and performance was pretty fcked. Gestures was struggling a lot, rotation was laggy as hell, was a bit pissed.

Emmm it isnt performance issues judging by that video. The main problem of that "sluggish performance" is animations delay. Yes there is some struggling while multitasking and etc. but on that video guy is trying to do it superfast which noone will do normally lol and animations slow downs him and it looks like "sluggish performance" ;D But yeh video is funny with his nail scrapping :D

On the iPod Touch when increase contrast option is off, that is transparency and effects enabled, and assistive touch enabled there is a lag in the whole OS! Sometimes not so much in some apps but in some apps it is way too much, like real racing 3. Even the notification centre and control centre stutter!

- Wind speed in Today View is in "kph" instead of km/h.
- If you open lyrics for a song, then skip to a song without lyrics (without going back out to the track list), then the lyrics panel will say "(null)".

I've reported both of these to Apple.

kph (kilometres per hour) is same as km/h ;D

km/h expands to kilo metres per hour.
kph expands to kilo pico hour, which makes no sense.

As per Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_System_of_Units), "Symbols for derived units formed by division are joined with a solidus (/), or given as a negative exponent. E.g., the "metre per second" can be written m/s, [other examples removed due to formatting being lost]".

Anyone seen this (happened on my son's iPad mini - 1st generation -- NOT retina)?

The album art for the last song that was playing, replaced the DVD cover for the lone movie he has in videos.

The movie in videos was paid for and downloaded from iTunes (Wall-E), and therefore came with the provided standard Wall-E DVD cover art.

The cover art on the song that was last played was applied in iTunes itself, manually (the song was part of a local CD collection and not downloaded from iTunes).

But Wall-E (in the videos app) now showed the album art for the song from the music app (that had been applied to the song manually), but when you played the movie, it played Wall-E of course.

Rebooting did not get rid of it. Shutting down "music" app completely did not get rid of it. Shutting down video app did not get rid of it. So Wall-E DVD art was gone and replaced with the album art for a song that had been played.

This happened after updating to 7.0.4.

I have a custom tone I use for a daily alarm called Siren. In the clock app, placing the alarm in edit mode shows that I have the siren tone selected. If I select that, it takes me to the sounds screen where I can select any of the custom or built in tones. I touch my Siren and it plays the custom tone. Back out, make sure it's saved, and when the alarm actually sounds, it defaults to the first built in tone, ie "The Opening". If I select any of the built in tones, it plays the correct one when the alarm goes off, but if I try to use any of my custom tones, no dice. Always plays, "The Opening" when alarm sounds.

This was not happening under 7.0.3, and yes, I have reported the but to Apple via iphone/feedback.

Just wondering if anyone here can reproduce the error. I'm using a 64gb 5s.

I just realised the left picture I've posted didn't have the status bar in the app. That's a bug too. I've experienced a weird bug in iOS7, but i don't think its that common. When you leave the music playing in the background and lock the screen, after a while when you press the volume up/down keys on the phone (without waking it up), the volume may get stuck. For example you press the volume Up button and the volume will keep increasing (iOS registers the button as constantly pushed) and the only way to restore it is reboot. Same goes for volume Down, it will keep turning the volume down to 0.

This has been noticed in 7.0/7.0.3/7.0.4 and it was submitted to Apple (via the feedback form). No crash logs or diagnostics are being generated, just a glitch where iOS7 "thinks" that the volume buttons are constantly pressed.

The most devastating bug is the wifi chip getting disabled/fried/shorted (I don't know exactly) for most of the 4S devices.

If you have a 4S with a working wifi... consider yourself really really lucky!

All other bugs are acceptable... but a "smartphone" without wifi is totally useless Apple. Most of us have out of warranty 4S devices. Acknowledge the damn bug and offer us free replacements for your ****** ups!!

For me it happened once on iPhone 5, so far with 5S no issues related to alarm.

yes, only if you try harder it will reproduce because is very rare...and even if the alarm bar is set to off it still rings. So the icon is the real thing

I've been getting this problem too on my 5. it comes and go.

try cleaning the contact points on your sim card with alcohol and q-tips..
saw that solution online and gave it a go(without the alcohol tho) and so far no problem... yet. worth the try :D

Has this one already been mentioned. When you're in the multitasking view and return to an app or home screen, when the view zooms back in to fill up the screen, it actually does not do so correctly; it leaves a few rows of pixels at the top of the screen open, and then just after the zoom animation finishes the app view stretches to fill up that remaining space. This happens 100% of the time for me.

Yes. It's an issue exclusive to the iPhone 5s.

Fixed in the next update, according to people running the Beta versions.

iOS 7.0.4 on iPhone 4S with activation lock enabled, coming out of a landscape app such as a game then going to task switcher causes this to occur.

One thing I found yesterday, If I turn off reduce motion, I have access to control center in both lock screen and home screen. If I turn it on, I only have access on the lock screen, on the home screen I can't access control center. Weird. And yes I have the options to access control center anytime turned on in the settings menu.

That happens to me even with rotation unlocked.

Hi all,

I have some weird UI glitch on my iPhone 5S. It seems the screen/icons is shifted downwards (see first pic), the gap between the first row of icons and the time/signal/battery bar is bigger than usual (compared to second pic). This issue just started last night when I changed SIM cards and mobile SIM providers. The issue occurs randomly and to quick fix it, I pull the Spotlight search down and the screen appears normal.

Troubleshooting:
Soft reset, hard restore reset (tried setting up as brand new and previous backup - no difference), reset network settings.

Is this an issue I can fix, or wait for another update (I'm on iOS 7.1) or take it in to Apple?

Slide to unlock wouldn't slide today on my Air. I had to reboot the iPad.

This isn't a bug, it's due to the longer carrier name. I had the same problem with my 5S on t-mobile. I have my phone jailbroken so I installed the signal bars hack and the problem went away.

This started happening when Apple introduced the dots instead of the bars.

This was my very first thought as my new carrier has a longer name, however I have turned Airplane mode on (so there is no carrier name) and the issue still occurs.

It is a bit worse now. The image below shows a glitch while opening up an app, it goes quickly away once app is open
