Oct 1 update to GMail only offers a couple of changes.
Improved syncing and outbox behavior
Contact photo's (if you use this feature) now turn into a checkbox when you click on it, bringing up the options to delete, move, archive, etc.
Slightly altered look - (The holo-theming appears to have brightened the boxes and darkened the icons a bit. Or it could be my imagination.)
Didn't notice much else. Google continues updating core apps at a very quick pace.
Chrome Beta was also updated, but can't find a change log for today yet.
