Something strange happens when I use a battery case to charge my phone. My max capacity for my battery is around 1418.

When I start using a battery case for a couple charge cycles it starts to reduce the max capacity to 1350's.

What the heck is going on? Are battery cases bad for the phones battery? Is wall charging the only good way to charge your phone?

Thanks.

Which battery case do you use?

How do you know the capacity? Also battery cases add a thick layer of material to the iPhone making it keep in heat for a longer time as the battery case heats up. Like the battery is converting power and charging the iPhone and while the iPhone is charging the battery in iPhone is warming up. The battery case is insulating the iPhone and keeping the device warm. Heat and battery's do not mix.

Guessing it is this battery case:

Lenmar BC4 - External Protective Extended Battery Case for iPhone 4 / iPhone 4s

This is the one I use. I have an app that tells me the batteries capacity. When I switch back to the oem cube then my capacity returns to normal.

If you take a look at the link, it's not mentioned anywhere, but the link you supplied mentions it.

Counterfeit merchandise I suppose. Maybe buy a new one that is apple approved and if it is better keep it and possibly return the lenmar. If the one below does not change anything you can always return it.
I recommend this one:
uNu Power DX External Protective Battery Case for iPhone 4S & 4 - MFI Apple Certified (Matte Black, Fit All Models iPhone 4 & 4S)
