iChat - crack for video support on iMac DV

Hello everyone, I wanted to get video conferencing to run on the iMac DV so I can receive a single video stream from a friend. I have used a program:

This is shareware, and only works for 7days. Does anyone know a way of permanantly enabling video features on iChat to run with the iMac DV? (BTW im on Panther with iChat AV)

Anyway just to confirm, it works very nicely, framerates are abit slower and computer does slow down but it works!!

If anyone knows a permanent fix please reply! (I'm a student I dont have money floating around)

'Intellectual property'..hmm...so technically, hacking iChat to run with less powerful systems is ok? I mean, surely it is tampering with Apple's software and this much be a form of stealing. It's not a program in its own right...

The same people on this forum are discussing how to use Front Row on any Mac, why dont they go all go and buy an iMac to use Front Row? Please spare the legal jargon, I study it everyday...

Ummm, this has nothing to do with hacking iChat or any of Apple's software. This is about paying for an inexpensive piece of shareware to run what you want on what you want.

Then, you should recognise that what you want is illegal. Pay the fee for the work that's been done or don't use video. It's simple.

Does it not? Running software by Apple that has been exclusively designed for the iMac and deliberately not offered on other machines...I'd say thats hacking! (Esp when Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.3 attempted to kill this hack). So analogically, the same principles must apply. I am not defending illegal activity. I just feel a bit like everyone is attacking me to much and not enough on other stuff which is equally illegal.

I don't think people uniformly agree that hacking FrontRow to work on unsupported computers is right.

b) buy it
