Mavericks doesn't load files for mail attachments, etc

I don't know how to word this clearly, so I don't know if this has been seen with other users, too... but, basically when I try to open a file from within something like MS Word, or try to attach a document, the files don't load in the window.

Like this: (this folder is full of files but nothing shows up)



Anyone else see this and/or have a fix?

It's more than just the Mail app though it seems... anytime it opens the window to upload/find a file it does this. But yeah, having the X.0 updates aren't all that great after all =/
