Is there an existing file replication software for Mac - similar to DFS Replication?

I don't necessarily need the namespaces, but the ability for the software to create staging tables between multiple hosts and copy data to the staging tables, then to the main space once done.

Right now I use rsync. The problem is - I may be accessing host #2 for example and I'm accessing the file being copied (happens to be an older one) and it can't write to it. The sync fails on that file.

With DFS-R.. if I have the file open, it seems to remain in the staging table, then gets moved over later, without failure.

Is the Mac environment difficult to code something like this with? Is it not popular enough to keep data sync'd across multiple hosts?
