iTunes keeps disappearing ....after Mavericks install

I have had iTunes up and running flawlessly for years. I upgraded as usual to mavericks. I noticed that when I click on itunes it does not open. The iTunes name is on the top left pane but that is it. I have to completely uninstall and reinstall to get it running. Then if in a few hours back to missing? Anyone else having this problem? If so anything I can run or do to fix?

am I the only one experiencing this??
