Blimey, not a lot you can say about that lot, is there? For a country that is reckoned to be one of the best in the world when it comes to music, we don't half put out some rubbish at this time of year.

WESTLIFE FEAT DIANA ROSS - WHEN YOU TELL ME THAT YOU LOVE MEWestlife's latest album is a real stinker.
Diana Ross' version is like a million times better. I'm speechless, really.
Also, their rendition of You Raise Me Up sounds cringe-inducingly amateurish when put up to Josh Groban's original.

I would cheerfully cave the crazy frog's head in with a house brick. Not that he exists in any corporeal sense of course. Unlike Westlife...
I'll be right back. Just got to pop out...

Long live the British taste in music - this just won the record of the year in the UK!

NIZLOPI - JCBSaw these guys on TOTP (what was I doing watching that you might ask....waiting for Top Gear to start ;)). For being different, and for quirkiness alone, I'd like it to be these guys.

Long live the British taste in music - this just won the record of the year in the UK! :mad:Seriously? OMG  You have a link?
I would have nominated Texas - Red Book (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=82086260&s=143444) or Katie Melua (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtist?id=6753382) - Piece by Piece, but then that's just my taste.
FWIW, I think Westlife - Face to Face is a terrible album with some of the worst cover song performances.

And yes, they seriously did win record of the year...don't even ask. The final 5 short list was a complete joke

It's the sort of thing Westlife and their ilk normally win, as the list of past winners (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_Of_The_Year#Winners) demonstrates.

Good lord! I'm looking at 1999.
You guys have been subjected to Westlife for that long! *laughs uncontrollably* They're virtual unknowns in North America, though.
And the songs...
"Mambo No. 5" - Lou Bega?
"Livin' La Vida Loca" - Ricky Martin?
"...Baby One More Time" - Britney Spears?
"Blue (Da Ba Dee)" - Eiffel 65?
Veritable pool of talent among the nominees. :p

Hmm... just out of interest, how easy is it to emigrate to the United States or Canada? ;)

well the normal tripe is out in force this year... here are the contenders-
Actually, for the first year for ages there is a fair chance of having a half-decent and Christmas-related No. 1. In fact, two chances.
I'm Goin' Home / David Essex
Under the Tree / The Water Babies (http://homepage.mac.com/putneystudio/iMovieTheater5.html)
The second one is currently used in the UK Christmas Vodafone advert (and that is the version I have linked). Ah, here is the music video (http://www.video-c.co.uk/radarwatch.asp?vidref=thew011)
The first one I listed was made for the Channel 4 "Bring back..." (http://www.channel4.com/music/ontv/X/xmasnumberone.html) series.
