I purchased a new iphone and set it up as new.... i have around 1000 photos on icloud but only 29 photos of them were synced on my iphone... today they were only 23 photos... whats going on?

On my mac->iphoto all my icloud photos are there!

i think you are misunderstanding the point of photostream. it only restores the previous 1000 photos up to only 30 days. my guess is those 29 photos, were before the 30 day cutoff. then, 6 dropped off after that.

photostream is meant to temporarily save your pics, so they can be saved elsewhere at a later date. not a permanent "back up". if photos are not saved to a computer or another 3rd party hosting place, you will lose them.
