How to resize widgets on lock screen?

How can you resize a widget on the lock screen and KEEP it enlarged? If you keep pressing down on it you can pull it down to make it larger but it never stays that way. When you press the "lock" icon it just goes back in its standard size/ field.

Any idea?

Use a third party launcher, such as Nova or Apex. Never used Apex but alway use Nova on my Android devices--allows you to customize the number of columns/row and resize widgets, amongst other things.
