I've had a look through the stuff that comes in the box, had a look at the canon website but nowhere can i find what size filer will fit on the end of the kit lens :rolleyes:

That said, it does say 58mmø on the end, but i have no idea if this is all the necessary info to know what filters will fit :)

yes, it's 58 mm. That's all information needed to get a filter.
I recently bought the kit as well, but couldn't resist buying the 17-40 zoom
as well. Canon still has a 100 euro rebate if you buy the kit and the 17-40
before 31-12-2005.

It is. Filter threads are standardised across all manufacturers; all you need to know is the filter diameter, and it's a piece of cake.

If you're really paranoid, take the lens in with you when you go to buy the filter you want. Take the filter out of the case and screw it on in the presence of a staff member. If it doesn't fit, it'll be blindingly obvious. But you'll find it's not necessary.
