Work on Sunday?! [Archive]

Yup... that's me today...

Only for a few hours- need to get some time in before a Christmas/New Years trip to Moorea (Fiji) and New Zealand...

So I guess it's not too bad, in that respect. Weird to be here though- place is empty- probably explains why my productivity has been so high today... minus macrumors ;) :D

Anyone else working today?

i suppose that did sound a bit goofy... i have enough "leave" accrued to cover the trip- but i don't want to use it all up in case of emergency later on in the year...

that, and my girl just left to go home to ca, so i figured i'd kill some time here at the office...

just feels weird- so empty

Yeah, at my old job I was all alone in the office a few times and it can be quite spooky.

Especially when you are trying to surf some porn and you think someone might be watching.

Anyone else working today?

I often go to the office for weekend work, but not this Sunday. Tomorrow, however, could be my last day for a while if the NYC mass transit strike materializes. Uggh!

I am at work today also. Not uncommon for me though. I work on a rotating schedule. This is my last Sunday before I rotate back onto weekdays, however.

I like working weekends, personally. Hardly anyone else around. It's quiet and I can get quite a bit accomplished.

That's right. Two thickheads going at it ... MTA head Peter Kalikow versus union president Roger Touissant. Pick your poison. If the union expects to win the battle for the hearts and minds of New Yorkers by striking right before Christmas week, they really need to return to their drawing board for a harsh reality check.

I like working weekends, personally. Hardly anyone else around. It's quiet and I can get quite a bit accomplished.

I think I could get used to the quiet... but I'm unable to take off days during the week- so working 6-7 days a week isn't too apealing to me... but yes, definitely more productive- even with all the posting here today ;) :D

Sundays are prep days and grading days and general catching up days. All work from home, but rarely a Sunday off during the academic year!

I wouldn't work on a sunday. I'm 20 in 4 weeks and have never done a full days work in my life but still! Sunday is the family day to me.

My girlfriend got into a right argument once, she spent a few weeks at Macdonalds and they wanted her to work Sundays. which would have stopped her going church. In the end they wanted her to work both Christmas and New Years day. so she just didn't go back into work.

I hated working on Sundays at "normal" jobs.

But now since I work for myself, the only difference between a weekday and the weekend is no class :D.. every day is a work day for me :)

The tube drivers in London threaten to go on strike just before Christmas just about every year! It's not really a threat anymore as everyone is expecting it. I'd place bets on there being some strikes to coincide with England games in the football (soccer) World Cup next summer too! They really are a parasitic lifeform! They get paid an amazing amount to do a job it only takes a few weeks to train for. My personal solution is computer controlled trains (like the DLR).

I am the exact opposite.My company only allow me to carry over 1 week of vacation. I had so much leave saved up I had to take off the rest of the year or I would lose it. Of course I am not lucky enough to have a trip to fiji and NZ aheaed of me.. Looking for company???
