I have a really old PC... it has a P3 450 MHz, some nVidia TNT card, 384 MB of SDRAM, ethernet card, 56k modem, 8 GB (I think) HD, CD-ROM drive, etc... It has Ubuntu Linux installed if that matters.
Name an offer.

Well it's in a Sony VAIO case. But the guts are frankenstein-ized from other PCs.

If you can get me full specs, pictures, and an asking price I might take it off your hands :).

Geez, I can't believe you're calling that thing old! I used a 450mhz PII with windows 98 up until this past summer, surfed the net like a pro. Couldn't keep track of time, though.

Old??? Wow what is my PII 266 then? It was made by Gateway in 97. It does have MMX technology!!! I still have it as my only PC (other than using Virtual PC). That P3 would be like a massive upgrade for me, if I needed a PC for anything ;)

Heh, I still use a Pent I 75 MHz occasionally and those things FLY with 256 RAM in them :P

Now now, the stack of 286s and 386s in my living room is old. Anything PII or up (450MHz was the top end of the PIIs) isn't a speed machine, but can be easily adapted to any specific purpose. You'll find a number businesses still use machines of a similar age for their servers.
Don't get me wrong, I prefer using Macs (older or newer) for all my specialized purposes, but PCs will certainly do if it's what I have, and I can get it on the cheap.
This particular bad boy could probably function as a decent file server/print server, or perhaps a PBX.

I hear that, my 450mhz PII ran photoshop 7 like a champ.

Off Topic:
I used a PIII 5XX MHz dual with 512MB of ram for my Student Graphic Design Job. Ran Photoshop 7 pretty decent.

The full specs... I can't really give you all that much information... The motherboard and P3 originated in a Gateway box... the nVidia was from a Compaq... I think it's a TNT... it has 16 MB of video memory... The HD is a Maxtor Dragonball or something like that... It's from another Gateway box. No idea what brand the CD drive is, it's from where I used to work, they're about to throw it away. It also has a floppy drive, that I took from the same Gateway the motherboard/P3 came from.
I don't have a digital camera, so I don't have a way to take a picture right now. But I'll see what I can do if you really need a picture. The case is in okay condition, with some dings and scratches. The worst damage though is the side. Someone has cut a hole in it and put plexiglass in it to make a window

Would make a great mail or webserver. I even have one, for a shop machine running XP, 450 or so RAM in it, thing runs great.

Same, just gave it to mum's friend. It had a dual boot with win xp and linux, but I reinstalled it with windows ME (does that make me a bad person?) for her, as I wanted to keep my XP licence for when I get my intelli-powerbook. :p

Never mind, I'm not selling it. Thanks for the interest though.

Old, ha ha
I had a 33MHz 486 that I maxed out with 16Mb Ram (it was like 8 chips) and ran Windws 95 (after years of windows 3.1)
Before that I had a 8MHz or so 8088 that had about 4mb ram and ran some pre windows 3.0 in greyscale, or the DOS file tool if you liked. Tricked out the autoexec.bat to allow many different boot configs. :)

Hey, I'm gong to be going back to my dad's house for holiday. He has a bunch of old office computers with similar or better specs. So if you pay shipping and handling I'll give you anything you want.

If you got any faster P3's do send one over! Or another faster CPU with accompanying motherboard will be great too. Also, if you have any graphics card that's PCI (or AGP if you also send over the different CPU-different motherboard combo that has AGP), that'd be great. Oh, and a DVD-ROM drive if that's possible.
God, I sound like a greedy bastard... Of course I'll pay shipping and any other costs.
