i have an entire album of music that is all on one file in my itunes. i would like to split it into separate tracks. i have a number of applications that might work but im sure which one to try first. hopefully someone out there has done this before and can save me a lot of time trying different things.

i have:

audacity
garageband
audio highjack pro
imovie hd
dvd studio pro
mpeg streamclip
mpeg2 works

garageband would certainly work

as would imovie

i'd lean towards gb though. open up the single file, and cut it up. then export as aiff. bring them all into itunes and convert to whatever you want (mp3, aac, etc)

Right now, (as I'm on a PC) I vote for Audacity. It's pretty easy to just make a selection (by clicking and dragging) and then select "Export selection to (insert choice)"

In the preferences menu, you can change the uncompressed export option from WAV to AIFF.
If you want to export mp3, you may have to download the lame_enc.dll. I'm not sure, as I've never used audacity on a Mac.
