I want to buy a 8/256 config of the 13" MBA but would rather not have to order it online. Any thoughts on stores that may have it in stock in Houston? No Apple store/Best Buy here offers it.

8 GB Model in Physical Stores?

You can check for stock in most any Apple store.

If you look at any Apple Store, you will see that configuration is a custom order (and won't be at the store) - but (I suppose) it would be worthwhile to call a store directly, as a custom config might be available at a specific store (but I doubt it)
It does say that an 8GB config ships within 24 hours - so you could order it on-line today, and pick up at the store (check with the store, maybe they would get it tomorrow ? )
