so I have a pretty strange "Home Theater" setup right now. It goes like this:

AppleTV (3)-->HDMI-->LG TFT
and then the Audio
TFT -->Headphone jack -->cinch-->old Din connector --> old B&O sound system

Now I could get a bigger screen for free, only problem is, it does not have a headphone jack or any other audio out
I googled and found 2 possible solutions

an HDMI to VGA+audio switch
or an
Toslink cinch converter

Has anyone any experience with those things, and any idea, which setup would/should work better?

Thanks guys!

Video is harder to convert, esp going back to VGA analog. The audio-only solution would likely be a better choice.

Are you sure the new TV doesn't have an output? It's hard to find sometimes, it often isn't mentioned in spec sheets or even labeled well on the TV itself. Just a thought.

If you're going to something like a computer monitor you may have to get a bluetooth/airplay speaker for sound.

thanks guys! just to end this thread, (it is a computer monitor - that's why it doesn't have any audio out) here is what I ended up with:
HDMI to VGA + headphone jack
This adapter doesn't need a separate power supply.
Video: ATV3-->HDMI-->HDMI to VGA-->VGA monitor
Audio: ATV3-->HDMI-->HDMI to VGA and headphone jack -->cinch-->old Din connector --> old B&O sound system

it works well and I don't notice any quality loss, neither video nor audio
