The 2,000,000 Post Avatar Contest is now closed to new entries. You may continue to comment on the avatars already submitted by posting in their threads.

A total of 83 entries were submitted.

The moderators will check eligibility and select the finalists based on creativeness, craftsmanship, and/or humor in the three categories:* Best Animated Avatar
* Best Static Avatar
* Best Apple-themed Avatar
A poll among the five finalists in each category will then be posted in this forum, and all members may vote once in each poll to select the three overall winners.

Finalists and winners get enviable bragging rights. Winners may use their winning entry as their member avatar, whether or not they have reached 500 posts.

Indeed, congrats are in order! Of course, one could argue that he obliviously made the 2 millionth post without that being his intention, but hey, it doesn't really matter... ;) :cool:

Gotta say I'm surprised Lacero didn't get it - I'm sure she would have rigged up some auto-post script (Automator function?) or something such that when 1,999,999 was hit, BAM! :p ;) :D

He may get it. He was quick to point out that the MacForums were actually only on 1,997,000, or something like that. So I get the feeling he's still shooting for the big 2.

Yes, me too, I already have quite a few entries in mind which I'll be casting my vote for. There will be some tough choices, bit it will be fun to see who the eventual winners are. :)

Although I don't engage in too much meta-discussions, you read me like an open book! Lol! I did plan on bunching up a number of post replies and saving them up for a posting bomb when it neared 2 million. Those plans have been scuttled.

I think most members went by the numbers posted on the MR forum index, as did I.
I hope not. ps. I love white text! We could engage in a secret and torrid love affair using white text replies and no one would know, not even your wife!... with perhaps exception of Mad Jew :)

We've already hit 2,000,000 total posts at MacRumors. The counter on the front page of the forums lags behind because it does not include all posts. I think it excludes more than just deleted posts and posts in deleted threads; I suspect that other categories of posts are also excluded, but I've never investigated the details.

In any case, the difference in the counters represents posts that no longer "count" for some reason. Our contest was based on the cumulative total count, as shown by post numbers.

So you aren't celebrating too early. And you are welcome to celebrate again when the front-page counter reaches 2 million as well.

Thanks for the clarification on this Doctor Q. I was going off the URL in the Address Bar myself - for instance, it appears as though I'm typing up post 2,000,611 or so right now. That link to ITASOR's post comes up as post 2,000,000, and that's what I was basing my congrats on.

But I'll celebrate when the main page counter hits 2M as well... ;)

It's alright Lacero, I don't care if mad jew knows, he's cool - maybe he'll even want to join us... I'll think of you when I have my Christmas dinner tomorrow night as well...

Haven't been on here for a couple of days so no idea what's been going on and i'm on DIALUP at my parents' house :eek:

dammit... so i won't be able to submit my other 'tar ideas then. oh well... i guess i'll have to wait for the 3rd million... ;)
