why can't I post an avatar?

I selected a pic on my desktop that was 75 x 75px @ 10k and hit 'save' then it showed up in the spot that said "current profile picture" but it still doesn't show up in my posts. It's a jpeg with .jpg extension.

I have emptied my browser cache and reloaded a page, still doesn't show up. If I hit the save changes button again, as I thought I might have to, I get a message saying 'upload of file failed'.

Yes I have the show avatars option on.

You cannot use an avatar here until you reach 500 posts, sorry. :o

Is there a way of telling how many posts one has made?

Select My Profile from Quick Links in the menu near the top of each page in the forums. :)

In just a shade over three months you are approaching the halfway point of the post total needed for an avatar. It won't be much longer for you ... we'll be waiting to see your choice around April.
