Raw meat in lieu of the iPod is one thing. However, a really thoughtful employee would have also included some potatoes.

I am confused, would the meat not smell after a few hours/days since its not being refrigerated.

Either the mother, girl or the entire family has no sense of SMELL. ;) :D

There are the clueless, the tasteless and in this case, the noseless.

I would be PISSED! But that still is unbelievably funny, maybe some type of inside joke at a factory? I would just love to know what the person was thinking

In the first link, the story states that "Rachel Cambra purchased a new high-tech iPod for her daughter as a gift this week."

In the latter link it mentions that "Rachel Cambra, a mom and an employee of that Wal-Mart store, gave her son a Christmas gift which she believed to be a Video iPod she had put on layaway."

Before getting to the meat of this dilemma, should it be that difficult for either the mother or crack reporter to get all the basic facts straight?

I suppose that salted meat, like cold cuts, would keep for a while... but why on earth would someone go to all the trouble to do that?

Looks like delicious chicken breasts...

They should have used dark meat for a black iPod video and kept the breasts for a white one, no?

At least disgruntled employees in Hawaii dont go "postal". And at least it was wrapped. Looks like smoked salmon to me. If they had only thrown in a bagel too.

The video on the news tonight showed what looked like fresh meat. You'd think that it would have been a wrapped gift for quite some time and would definitely have had the smell of success.

My first thought was that the people with the iMeat were trying to perpetrate a hoax. The local fox channel made sure to mention that they got no response from Apple. Of course, these are the same people who call iPod I-POD, i-Pod, or various other things, so they probably didn't dial the right phone number.

Theres just too much wrong with this story for it to be real. I think the family put the meat in there in order to see if they could conjure up another iPod, and it looks like they did.

Based on what I saw on the CNN video story of this meatPod, the meat looked like it was shrink wrapped in some kind of plastic. Maybe that would explain the supposed lack of smell.

My theory: a clever thief bought the iPod, replaced the iPod with meat, re-shrink wrapped it, and returned the package for a refund. Pretty nasty, but it beats shoplifting.

Clearly the meat was used as a weight factor. ;)

That is one expensive portion of meat, though. :p

I'm going to guess that the person who did this did not buy the meat. If they actually bought the meat, I don't know if that'd be funny or sad.

It doesn't mention in the article if the perp stole the iPods or not. Since the employee only is being charged with tampering, I assume not. I wonder what happened to the iPods then--would that not have been important to mention in the story? If it's not known yet, then they should say the matter is still under investigation.
