Restoring OS X Using SuperDuper!

Dunno if anyone here has needed or tried to do this, but i made a clone of my OS X drive using SuperDooper, incase anything bad happens.

It says it has saved the entire OS X plus apps into a disk image over a gig in size.

If i need to restore OS X to that image, is it as easy as going into disk utilities and clicking restore, or will OS X not let you 'replace itself'??

I don't think SuperDuper has any restore options, just cloning and backing up....

Any help on this would be great! thanx!! :)

Oh, I think you've misunderstood. The restore option in Disk Utility is meant for disk images. Restoring in SuperDuper is easy. Just boot your Mac from the backup, reformat the internal hard drive, copy the backup to the internal (like an ordinary backup, just the source and destination are swapped), then boot from the internal drive.

The reason SuperDuper has no restore function is because restoring is nothing more than a backup with the source and destination swapped.

ah, i think i getcha... thanx for your help.

I have just created a 2nd partition on my 2nd internal disk, and used SuperDuper to restore my cloned disk image onto it. Although it said there was an error after 100% restoring, i have succesfuly booted up into the newly restored clone drive!

Having some wierd problems at the moment with settings and dock prefs etc from my active OS X taking effect in my backup clone... trying to sort them out at the mo..... :)
