It is a very common thing but I was wondering how when you have a black and white picture, how you make just one thing color? Dumb question maybe but I really want to know how to do this. Thanks.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but...

Excuse the picture content, was a random choice

Take you full color image,

Make a copy of it in a new layer and remove the color, have a play to make it look nice. Cut out the bits you want to be in color.

Add em together and what have you got?

Done in photoshop elements2, no idea if its the"right" way to do it, but it works for me

there was a thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=163922&highlight=selective+color) about just that recently. several techniques were mentioned.
