How to get rid of this pink dot?

You could try to clone it out. Just under the histogram on the right in LR is a set of 4 tools choose the 2nd one which is a circle. Adjust the size to suit and you can move the part it chooses to clone from with the mouse.

Use a couple of round, feathered adjustment brush points to desaturate that area and then add some contrast back in. They should be two almost concentric circles (overlapping), with the innermost circle having settings that counteract the outer circle, since your flare is donut-shaped. That should make it look a lot less noticeable and will make cloning out any leftover effects easier.

If you have Photoshop CS5+ (maybe CS4?) there is a tool called content-aware fill. Make a loose selection around the flare and use the content-aware fill. Should solve your problems. It's pretty smart as to what it draws.

Indeed it's smart, but not always and depends on the area of your selections.

We should make a contest for what content aware decides to fill the selected area with.

my sloppy selection and content aware fill looks like a spirit orb picture pulled from a third grade ghost blog.
