What would make images in the header pop out on top of the rest of the header?

Hi,

I'm not a CSS wizard, I'm building my own Wordpress site through trial and error.

I downloaded the following template for my site's forum.

I then wanted to change the header to look like the same color as my main site.

The header in the template is being made through images. I deleted those images and uploaded images with the color I wanted from my site.

Look very closely here and you will see that the square logo and the little bar underneath are "popping out" or are on top of the rest of the header, making it look like a slightly different color.

It's not. Everything is the same hex. I'm guessing there's a CSS code that is making those images pop up like that but I don't know what it would be.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the "little bar underneath" - do you mean the bar with the navigation links inside it - login, register, etc?

Looking at the source for each page it looks like there's significant differences. There's also a comment: "Put your links here" whereas you've put your links in a different div, actually the next div in the code which is part of the content not the header.

I'd get things in the right place first then worry about what the CSS is doing.

If you use Chrome as your development browser then pressing cmd+alt+i. Select "Elements" from the popup window or pane and select your element by drilling down through the code. When you've done so you'll be able to inspect what CSS applies to that element in the right hand pane.
