iPod 5G iPod videos wont update and controls greyed out??

Can anyone explain why all of a sudden the videos on my 5G 30gig iPod wont update. I just downloaded another Law and Order from ITMS but it wont update to the iPod and the controls in the preferences panel are set to manual , greyed out and wont let me change it to automatically update. The iPod is no where near being full. Any clues?
 
I don't know, my video controls under prefs were greyed out b/c I was in manual update mode, once I switched to automatic update the video section was active again.
