View Full Version : Yet Another PB Battery Problem...

So I've had my PB for less than a month, but I keep getting different readings on it from Coconut Battery. Look...

The battery does not seem to be holding charge very well. When I charge it to full, the regular OS X battery meter (the one at the top right corner) will read only 99% even when the charger turns green. At normal usage (only web-browsing and not leaving any other apps open) I get approximately two hours of usage on the battery. Should I call applecare and ask for anew battery? For those of you that have gone through that process, what exactly did you say to them? Thanks for the help...

no not yet, this battery that I'm having problems with right now is the oem.

Did you try to kill the battery? Let the battery run down completely until it forces your PowerBook to sleep. Then charge it up completely until 99-100% without stopping it. Then see how long it lasts. You may want to change some settings in 'Energy Saver' in system preferences. You can turn File Sharing, Bluetooth and other services off to save energy if you really want to or you can dim down the screen. If this continues to happen I say go call AppleCare, and tell them what's happening so you can probably get a replacement if your battery is defective.

Also here's an image to replace those screenshots you used, for the future use Command (Apple) - Shift - 4 to make a cropped screenshot using your courser. Don't get me wrong your desktop background is pretty nice, it's just that some users without a high-speed connection will be happier with a small image rather than a large one.

I calibrated the battery a couple times when I first received the PB, and I turn bluetooth off always (I never use it). I'm going to leave the "energy saver" settings on normal and run it until it drains and auto sleeps. Then I'll re-charge it as you suggested and see if I can get a longer lasting usage time. Thank you for the cropped photos!
