On south park's official website they've longtime been Mac-friendly (clips, etc.), so I'm not surprised they'd be open to using Macs to help with the back-ups. And in recent seasons they have been getting more complex in their animation, so I'm not surprised that it's taking up more space and they would need a heavy-duty solution for back-up.
