file transfer hangs thunderbolt

I'm having an issue every time I simultaneously transfer a file to my wireless device (WD Live Hub) and my thunderbolt drive (128GB SSD). I will transfer to movie to my WD then copy to my ssd via thunderbolt cable and that file will not transfer until it finishes transferring to my WD??? Is this normal?? Is there some other method of dragging to copy or ctrl C and ctrl V???

Sorry brain fart. I've been using Mac exclusively for over 5yrs now
Still doesn't solve my problem

Still no luck. Any other suggestions or fixes???
