The following seemed like very good news for Mac gaming development. VP (Virtual Programming) had been relatively quiet in recent months, but recently they re-emerged with a better website, and renewed communication of upcoming projects.

They are bringing Dead Island to Mac.

They just released Spec Ops for Mac.

And, although the wording is vague, it seems they may have just completed the UE3 and UE4 Mac game development engine for Epic. Future Mac games based on the Unreal3 and Unreal 4 game engine…. sounds nice!

P.S. — I know there have been a slew of iOS action games based on the Unreal Engine, but those games don't necessarily have a Mac counterpart.

Well, that rocks. Thanks for pointing that out and sharing the good news. I just bookmarked the site after checking it out. Dirt Showdown will be nice to see too. I am also very glad to hear Dead Island is really coming along.

I wonder if as part of the UE3 work they might do a UT3 release. I'd like it if they did.

UE4 is actually going to be OpenGL, so I'd say that's what made them complete it so quickly. It's going to be rather awesome, as the CryEngine just got full linux support as well, and Kingdom Deliverance is being released using it for Windows,OSX, and Linux.

Things are looking good for OSX and gaming.

UE3 for Mac isn't actually news. Epic added OS X as officially supported platform to UE3 already in 2011, due to VP's effort.

That UE4 is getting Mac support from the get-go is very encouraging, on the other hand. But truth to be told, this is also a bit of old news, since a couple of upcoming UE4 games are already announced to support OS X, like Cyan's Obduction.
