Apple charges 200 dollars to go from a 80gb 5400 rpm to a 100gb 7200 rpm on the base model macbookwhatever.

Is the 200 bucks worth the 1800rpm bang?

I am about to buy one, but I am not sure what drive I should get. Let me tell you what I will do with it:

1. SELL MY DELL DESKTOP and hook up the new mac to the 23'' lcd
2. use iLife daily (all except imovie)
3. Games games games!! I expect the future market to thrive with mac games!
4. Internet+ Office

I intend to do 2 and 4 at the same time, and 3 with all programs closed.

The 7200Rpm drive seemed nippier in my last 15" PB compared to the 5400Rpm in my 12"....

This will be the third laptop in less than a year 😱 I think I have a compulsive upgrade disorder..

Also remember this effects up time with the battery.

One could use the same amount of money and get a 120/5400rpm instead...the battery life is indeed a good point...plus: heat, noise, vibration.... But remember: It's suposed to be a desktop replacement...Desktops are loaded with 10.000 rpm (and 250/500gb)...I'd stick with the speed....
