Just to clear things up,
New Intel macs use Intel EFI firmware. (NOT BIOS)

I believe it will be slightly different from our current Mac firmware, but I do not know how.

It's nothing like current Mac firmware but at least it's not a 1980s BIOS. This should enable stuff like target-disk mode to be implemented.

On the down side (for some) I'm not sure that current Windows can boot from an EFI board. I'm sure a version that can will be along soon though.

I think HP sell Windows 2003 PCs/servers using EFI, so I asume it supports it. Don't know about Windows XP (32-bit) though. Possibly not (yet). Vista will support it.
