Is it true that the keyboards on the new Powerbook 12 and 17 cannot be "unlatched", like the current iBooks and Titanium models? If that is correct, then the memory is not upgradable..... will I be stuck with 512 of SDRAM? Any feedback will be appreciated.

I think the RAM is now accessible on the bottom of the notebook, behind the battery - ie: you take the battery out and there it is!

Except on cell phones, RAM is always upgradeable. to a point, anyway... even if the keyboard didn't pop out, there's some other way in. They have to install RAM at the factory, you know :)

The RAM is no longer located below the keyboard, but can still be accessed from beneath the computer. The 12" has only one accessible slot (128 MB is integrated into the motherboard), and the 17" has two available slots.
Here are pics of the bottoms of the new Alubooks...I hope you can figure out where the RAM goes! (17" on the left, 12" on the right)

Ok...here's a hint ^_^

Finally, if you don't get it...here is the lock to the RAM slot:

This is present on both the 12" and the 17" models, so I'm assuming I'm correct about this...I could be wrong tho'.

I'm assuming you're talking about this:

This if I remember correctly is the slot for the new Airport Extreme Card...where to access it and such.

Indeed, I managed to get hold of a 12" PB and there is a small rectangular memory upgrade slot on the bottom. I think this is a step forward as it's all too easy to damage your keyboard if you have to lift it up often.

I would like to see 802.11g integrated intho mobo of all powerbooks though. It seems less elegant to have to have an upgrade card, I'd rather Apple just charged $100 for PB that don't currently include airport extreme and integrate it into motherboard.
