there are plenty of uses since it is now possible to get whited00r7 which is very similar to ios 7 on it.

I'll second Whited00r. I've got it running on my old 2g just fine. It's mostly used on an iHome playing pandora. But it's also got a lot of games that the kids like to play. Like Jetpack Joyride, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, etc. It'll run older games just fine. And music and streaming services.
