Hey guys I come to this forum quite often for answers so I decided to sign up. Right now I'm in a pickle on what kind of system to buy for high res photoshop work.
I'm used to using a 1.33 g4 powerbook with maxed out ram.

I'm wondering which would be the best purchase.
An new 2.0 intel imac or 2.0ghz dual g5
I can only afford these choices.

Some questions I want to know are
Will the 64 bit g5 work better then the intel chips for photoshop?
What is the best machine for your money?(20inch screen with imac)
Finally how big of a change will I see in performance between the two?

Thanks guys
Hope this helps some other people also

Look at the Apple Photoshop Test Thread around here..

Here's a quick bit that looks very promising

Would anyone care to see the results with a Core Duo 1.83 17" iMac
with 2 GB RAM––running PPC Photoshop CS2 under Rosetta?

(yes, I think you would)

1:05...

Not bad, considering my 2 Ghz Rev B iMac took 1:50 running CS2 natively.

If this can be verified by a few more users, then you have nothing to worry about when it comes to performance, especially when it runs fully native (i guess when they release CS3 later in the year)..
