Hello All,
I Have a lw 810 pro, and I'd like to use it on a Dell OptiPlex GX150 with XP 256mb, 20gig, etc... The LW has NO Ethernet on board (NO AAUI) since this was a custom one. It has Serail however, that I have a cord for to use to take that Apple Seral port to Parralle port for PC. However I dont know where to begin finding drivers and set up for this... And would would be great.

Thanks!

According to this page, the LaserWriter 810 is already supported by Windows XP, you probably just have to do the Add Hardware crap to get it to work.

If that doesn't work, try google

I think the problem is that I am using the Mac Serial Port on the Printer and having that cord go to the Parallel port. I have tried (unsuccessfully) to add it using the add device. Still no luck, and since this is a harder to find laserwriter I can't find anything on Google... And thing else I can try???

Unless you have some funky signal conversion device inline, a simple serial-parallel adaptor cable will not work - the signals are completely different.

What you may want is a serial to serial link...

OTOH that round connector may be an Appletalk port.

Seems it normally had all three
Ports:
LocalTalk
RS-232/RS-422 serial
Ethernet

You may be able to find an Ethernet cared for it here

This printer was upgraded to have a AUI port, and I have been unable to get a way to regular ethernet with it, and it has a SCSI port for a hard drive (for fonts)... I suppose I shall look for a serial cord somewheres.... Just a pain though.

Once you find the serial cord it should work just fine. Or search eBay for an AUI to RJ-45 adapter.
