Why did pay Apple their high RAM prices instead of going third party and installing it yourself? I am not being critical, just curious.
EDIT: Silly me~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I got a student discount on the mac and pricing for the memory they use in the imac intels are kinda high for 1gig ram and it was cheaper to go with apple.com direct as I would have to lose the 512 stick and buy two 1gigs as there is only 2 slots for memory and the new imac intel only holds 2gigs not 2.5gigs. It was like a $300 upgrade total for 2gigs from 512 which would cost more if I purchased two 1gig chips elsehwere plus I would have had an extra 512 laying around.

I ordered 2gb from Apple for 2 reasons
1) Crucial have no stock
2) Big deal, price....
Crucial EU (for europe) site charge $179 (€148) + shipping making the price nearly $190 per 1gb
which mean around $380 for 2gb and apple charge $374 (€310) to upgrade memory to 2gb..
So for once on my side, Apple upgrade price wasnt that bad at all....

Sounds like you have the machine I ordered, except you didn't say if you got the 500GB HD. Mine won't ship until mid-february... so, please share your impressions while I (and others) wait.
